Bonphotage Chicago Film Wedding Photography and Videography - Morton Arboretum - Kathryn and Clayton

Capturing both the photos and the cinematic video for these two was an absolute dream. From a deeply emotional ceremony to a reception dance floor that completely brought the house down, this day was pure magic. Let’s dive into all the gorgeous details!

Chicago has some incredible venues, but there is something truly special about leaving the bustling city streets for the serene, lush landscapes of the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois. It is the ultimate outdoor Chicago wedding venue for couples who want a fairytale garden aesthetic.

Kathryn and Clayton wanted their day to feel romantic, timeless, and deeply connected to nature. The Arboretum delivered on every front. Everywhere you turned, there was a stunning backdrop - sweeping meadows, vibrant floral gardens, and majestic, centuries-old trees that made for the most epic portrait locations.

When it came to capturing their day, the energy was just infectious. They just radiated JOY from beginning to end and were surrounded by so much love and graciousness. Oh and we are still obsessing over the bridal party dresses - organic and just so beautiful yet not matchy!

A photo can freeze a beautiful second in time, but a video lets you relive the laughter, the music, and the movement. That is why we are so passionate about offering both! We highly recommend grabbing a tissue and hitting play on Kathryn and Clayton’s highlight film below to truly feel the energy of their incredible day.

It takes a village to bring a day this beautiful to life! A huge thank you to the incredible vendor team:

Bonphotage Chicago Film Wedding Photography - Armour House - Christian and Sarah

There are weddings that are beautiful, and then there are weddings that completely steal your heart. Sarah and Christian’s magical day at the historic Armour House in Lake Forest was undeniably the latter. Between the breathtaking architecture, an abundance of happy tears, and a VIP guest with very short legs, this is one wedding we won't soon forget!

If you love an emotional love story, Sarah and Christian delivered. From their intimate first look in the venue's iconic grand staircase to the moment they exchanged vows in the beautifully manicured gardens, there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

The couple's palpable connection radiated through every moment of the ceremony. Christian’s reaction as Sarah walked down the aisle is the exact kind of “happy tears” moment every bride dreams of. It was a beautiful reminder of what weddings are truly about - raw, unfiltered love.

And let’s be honest - every viral wedding needs a furry guest of honor. Enter Mabel, Sarah and Christian’s absolutely precious Corgi. Dressed for the occasion and strutting down the aisle with total confidence, Mabel was the undisputed star of the day. Including pets in weddings is one of our absolute favorite trends, and Mabel proved exactly why. Whether she was posing for portraits (and literally smiling!) by the fountains or sprinting to her newly married parents, she had everyone swooning!

Sarah and Christian’s wedding was a masterclass in blending elegant tradition with personal, heartfelt touches. Congratulations to the happy couple and their precious Mabel!

Bonphotage Chicago Film Wedding Photography - Adler Planetarium - Jialin & Lilyanne

There are weddings you photograph and weddings that photograph you back. J + L's day at Adler Planetarium was the second kind. I've been doing this long enough (over a decade!) to know when something is going to stay with me - not just in a hard drive folder, but in the way you remember a smell or a piece of music. This one had that quality from the moment I pulled up to the Museum Campus and saw the limestone terrace stretched out toward Lake Michigan, the whole Chicago skyline sitting quietly on the other side of the water like it had been waiting. And J & L’s love story, that stretches across international borders and over time, really something extraordinary.

Most people know Adler as a science museum. The couples who choose it for their wedding know something else - that the terrace on the east side of that dome sits at the very tip of the Museum Campus peninsula, with Lake Michigan wrapping around three sides and an unobstructed view of the Chicago skyline that doesn't exist anywhere else in the city at quite that angle. Sailboats drift behind the ceremony arch like they were hired. No ballroom, no chandelier, no interior does what that backdrop does. It is, simply put, one of the most cinematic ceremony settings in Chicago. And I don't say that lightly.

L got ready in a robe and heart-shaped "Just Married" sunglasses, sitting in a bath of soft morning light with her dress hanging above her. That image - the playfulness, the ease - told me everything I needed to know about her. There was a moment when all the bridesmaids were drinking champagne by the bathtub, when the faucet turned on accidentally - it was an unforgettable wedding moment, filled with so much laughter and the images are everything. L wore Bella Belle heelsflats, laid out on white tulle with garden flowers tucked between them. Peonies, ranunculus, sweet peas, blue delphinium. The same palette that would run through every arrangement of the day. She wasn't nervous in the way brides sometimes are. She was just ready.

The florals lining the aisle were something. Flowerchild did what they do best - creating absolute floral magic! Low, overflowing ground arrangements in blush, peach, lavender, and white - roses, peonies, Queen Anne's lace, trailing greenery that crept across the limestone like it grew there. The arch at the altar was full and abundant, the kind of floral design that reads as wild and intentional at the same time. The guests were standing as L walked down the aisle - all of Chicago standing with them across the water. So many Chicago perfect moments occured, like the blue helicopter cutting low across the lake behind the groomsmen just moments before their first look with L. Nobody planned it. Nobody could have. The groomsmen turned and waved. We got the shot.

There's a photograph from that ceremony - the aerial view, drone footage from directly above - that shows the full scope of what that day looked like. The white runner stretching across the terrace. The guests fanned out on either side. The arch at the altar. And behind it all, Lake Michigan and the city. When I look at that image I still feel the size of it. When J + L were pronounced married, L raised her bouquet toward the sky. J's face said everything words couldn't.

After the ceremony, the light started doing what late afternoon Chicago light does in late spring - it goes pink and gold and impossibly soft, and the skyline turns from architecture into something that looks painted. This evening had the most perfect weather and lighting imaginable. We walked them to the water's edge. L's cathedral veil caught the breeze off the lake and went fully horizontal in one frame, the entire Chicago skyline behind them, the Willis Tower glowing. That image is one of my favorites I've ever made. Not because of the technical execution of that moment on medium format film, but because of what's in his face when he looks at her. We also got the quiet ones. The veil portraits, shot through the tulle so the couple is framed in diffused light, almost abstract. Those are the images I live for - the ones where the emotion is more present than the subject.

Inside, the sweetheart table was buried in florals. Black and white film captured the two of them mid-laugh during toasts - L covering her mouth, J fully, freely laughing. No posing. Just a moment of true, unfiltered joy. On the table: dessert shots, cake, small bites arranged on white trays, and both pairs of their "Just Married" heart sunglasses (late night flatlays forever!) A detail so specific to them it couldn't have belonged to any other couple. Lavender taper candles. Amethyst glassware. Handwritten place cards with ribbon. The kind of reception table that holds its own story.

I became a photographer because of the feeling in a room when two people are so fully present with each other that the air changes. You can't manufacture that. You can only be ready for it. J + L gave us a full day of that. The sunglasses in the bathtub. The helicopter over the lake. The veil on the lake at golden hour. The laugh during the toast. None of those were on any shot list. They were just the day, unfolding the way a real day does, with all its texture and surprise and feeling. This is why I still press the shutter, roll the film, and stay present all day. Not for the skyline - though the skyline doesn't hurt - but for the moments that happen inside of it. The small, true ones. Chicago keeps giving us days like this. And every time, I'm grateful all over again.

Bonphotage California Luxury Wedding Photography - Sunstone Villa Welcome Dinner - Mikyla and Justin

A true celebration of refinement and romance, Mikyla and Justin’s welcome dinner and rehearsal at Sunstone Villa in the Santa Ynez Valley was nothing short of extraordinary.

Set against the rolling hills and vineyards of California’s Central Coast, the evening unfolded at the iconic Tuscan-style estate, where olive trees lined the pathways and rows of vines framed a long, candlelit dinner table. Every detail was curated with timeless elegance in mind—from the soft ivory and sage florals overflowing at the table’s edge to the delicate textile runners and crystal glassware that added a sense of tactile luxury.

Mikyla was a vision in an ethereal embroidered gown, a couture and custom piece that blended modern grace with old-world charm, while Justin’s sharp suit provided the perfect tailored contrast. Their impeccable fashion choices elevated the ambiance, turning the rehearsal into a fashion-forward affair that still felt deeply personal.

Captured on both film and drone photography, the story of the evening was documented with a cinematic lens—soft, romantic textures interspersed with sweeping aerial views of the sun-drenched vineyards and the villa’s timeless architecture. The use of film imbued every frame with a nostalgic warmth, while the drone brought the full grandeur of the setting into focus.

From every angle, Mikyla and Justin’s welcome evening was a masterclass in luxury wedding design—a perfect prelude to a weekend full of intentional beauty, thoughtful details, and unforgettable moments.

Congratulations you two - it was an honor to document your wedding weekend!

Bonphotage Chicago and Milwaukee Wedding Photography and Videography - The Pritzlaff Hotel Milwaukee - Megan & Mason

Where to even begin with Megan and Mason’s GORGEOUS Milwaukee wedding?! We had been looking forward to their big day since the day we met them for their engagement session and couldn’t help but feel the love and joy that radiated from these two! Megan worked with the talented Events to a T to plan every beautiful detail of their day. They started their day with their closest friends and family before heading to the Pritzlaff (and it’s beautiful ornate ballroom) for an emotional first look. We then headed around Marquette campus for all the picturesque portraits on film! Then it was off to Church at the Gesu for a sentimental ceremony before partying the night away at the Prittzlaff! We couldn’t help but snuck up to the roof deck at sunset for some golden hour portraits and cocktails (can you blame us?!) We are so excited to share a sneak peek into their perfect day! Bonphotage Chicago Film Wedding Photography - Adler Planetarium - Anne-Marie & Markel

Anne-Marie and Markel met serendipitously on a fateful day in spring three years ago. There was an instant connection, but it wasn’t until a few months later that they went on their first date to a restaurant in Lincoln Park, Chicago. The relationship was serious from the start with Anne-Marie and Markel hitting all the Chicago favorites like a picnic in the park, The Museum of Science and Industry, a jazz bar and more in just their first few dates. They bonded over their shared love of film, books, adventure, travel and their unique family backgrounds. Markel’s mother is from Louisiana and his father from Zimbabwe.

Markel surprised Anne-Marie by proposing on her birthday. After going ring shopping and landing on a three stone pear shaped diamond, he got down on one knee on the eve of her birthday after renting out a private deck at a riverfront restaurant. It was the easiest yes for Anne-Marie as they had known they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together for a long time.

In the whirlwind of the proposal and with exactly a year to plan their wedding. Anne-Marie and Markel got right to work figuring out their wedding vision. With Chicago being a city with exceptional, world-renowned museums, they knew that choosing a museum would be a unique and special location for their wedding. After touring several of the local museums. Anne-Marie and Markel settled on the Adler Planetarium. Rare is it that such a location has the views of the Chicago skyline combined with the traditional architecture and gorgeous light-filled solarium that would perfect their wedding vision. With most guests flying in from all over the world, they wanted to make it an occasion to remember. The ceremony was a family affair. With all their direct family walking down the aisle or performing readings. Ann-Marie’s three nieces and nephew were flower girls and the ring bearer. Anne-Marie’s father was honored to officiate the wedding. Both wanted to incorporate their backgrounds into the ceremony, as a result the ceremony consisted of a West African tradition, an Irish blessing and of course jumping the broom!

Being a fashion and lifestyle blogger, Anne-Marie wanted a fashion-forward wedding. After finding her classic Martina Liana dress at historic Chicago bridal shop Mira Couture, she added the custom-made puff sleeves as a twist on the more traditional gown. At the reception she changed into her second look by bridal favorite Danielle Frankel. As for her bridesmaid dresses, Anne-Marie wanted something neutral but classy to complement her ivory dress. The bridesmaid champagne dresses combined with the pop of color from the burgundy, white and pink floral. Their wedding came together in a beautiful July day in Chicago, they could not have asked for a better day.

Congratulations you two and enjoy this sneak peek!

Words from our beautiful bride “We just got back from our honeymoon, but I wanted to say that Sammie & Brit were fabulous!! They were absolutely amazing, from helping me into my dress to helping me take off smudged nail polish. My family loved how warm & friendly they were. The groomsmen were all very nervous about pictures, but Brit made them feel totally at ease. We had rain the morning of the wedding, but Sammi & Brit weren’t phased in the slightest. Their wonderful energy kept me feeling amazing the whole day! We also LOVED LOVED LOVED taking engagement pictures with Serena! She made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera. We felt super prepared going into our wedding day! Seriously, the BEST team!”
